Riyas runs a travel agency in Pattikad, Malappuram in Kerala. He is so excited to walk visitors around his brand new mansion that he has built in his hometown. The majestic house stands in a sprawling 60 cents land that the owner had inherited as ancestral property.

The elevation boasts a spectacular fusion of colonial and tropical styles. This makes the structure look classy and magnificent. There are roads on two sides of the plot. So, the house dons unique looks at the front and on the side.

Designed in 4840 sqft, this palatial mansion has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining area, two courtyards, kitchen with a work area and three bedrooms on the ground floor. Meanwhile, the upper floor has two more bedrooms, an upper living area, a balcony and an open terrace.

The sloped roof is paved with shingles. Dormer windows, which are the signature style of colonial-style homes, could be seen on the elevation. Interestingly, the car porch designed in the detached style is a miniature of the main structure.

The driveway, meanwhile, is paved with tandoor stones and grass in alternate layers. The verdant landscape arranged in multiple layers has lots of plants and trees. There is an open courtyard behind the sit-out. The courtyard floor is decorated with shiny pebbles. The family says that this is the perfect spot to enjoy the cooling rain showers that come into the house through the open ceiling.

The interiors are open and spacious. The formal living area, dining space and courtyard have a double-height ceiling. Vitrified tiles have been mostly used for flooring in common areas. Meanwhile, the wooden flooring in the formal living area and the bedrooms add a cosy ambience to these areas. Most of the furniture pieces are custom-made to match the colonial theme of the house.

The family living area, dining space and courtyard are part of the open hall. From the dining space, one could enjoy the view of the cosy courtyard. The metal CNC jali works on the ceiling and the walls of the double-height courtyard act as an interesting design element while bringing in natural sunshine and a cool breeze. Besides, indoor plants add a hint of greenery here.

The staircase is built by covering wooden panels on a metal frame. The hand railings, meanwhile, are done in square tubes.

The quaint family living area has been separated beneath the stairway, making the interiors extremely space efficient.

The stairway leads to a beautifully furnished upper living area.

The bedrooms are spacious and have all the required facilities. The bath-attached bedrooms have walk-in wardrobes for storage, dressing spaces and separate workstations too.

The kitchen is vast and has cupboards done in multi-wood with a laminate finish. The countertop, meanwhile, has been paved with tiles to grant a clean look. The breakfast counter in the main kitchen is quite big. Besides, there is a mini breakfast counter in the adjacent work area too.

The family members, meanwhile, are looking forward to creating some beautiful memories in their dream dwelling.
