With alluring landscape and splendid design this Kottayam house is dream

The house stands in a sprawling one-acre land that is surrounded by lush greenery.

Joy’s brand-new house at the beautiful countryside of Oravackal in Kottayam, Kerala has become a major landmark for its chic contemporary style and comfortable interiors. The structure stands in a sprawling one-acre land that is surrounded by lush greenery. Interestingly, this house dons two looks as there are entries from two sides.

The family insisted that the interiors should be cool and comfortable just like their old house which had a traditional mud-tiled roof. So, after constructing the ground floor brickwork has been done at a height of 1.2 metres before installing a mud tile paved truss roofing. This ensures that the sweltering summer heat is kept away from the interiors making the spaces cooler. Besides, this feature act as a protective shield during the monsoon. Huge floor-size windows and other openings facilitate excellent cross-ventilation inside the house.

The double-height light courtyard near the living room brings in oodles of natural sunshine and helps in pushing out the hot air too. The indoor plant and the quaint fountain grant a serene ambience to this area.

A staircase inside the house leads to the attic space. Even though this area is being used as a utility space now, the family has plans to turn it into a home theatre in the future. From here, one could access the open terrace through a huge window. This is the best spot in the house to enjoy the panoramic view of the beautiful surroundings.

The verdant lawns paved with pearl grass and the fountain adds an enchanting charm to the landscape. Meanwhile, the car porch and the ‘L’ shaped sit-out completes the majestic elevation.

A wall in the formal living area has been highlighted with attractive wallpaper. Here, a prayer area facing the east side too has been arranged. The false ceiling enhanced with gypsum board, marine plywood and laminate look classy. Meanwhile, the strip lighting on the ceiling sets the mood of the interiors. Lapotra finished granite has been used for flooring in the sit-out. Meanwhile, digital printed vitrified tiles are paved on the floor in the interiors.

The family living area and the dining area have been arranged as part of the spacious hall. The classic French window in the dining area opens to the patio. The swimming pool is the highlight here.

Besides a breakfast table, there is a countertop paved with Ivory coloured granite in the kitchen. A store room and an adjacent work area complete the main kitchen. Interestingly, there is also an outdoor kitchen where wood fire stove has been installed.

There are four bedrooms in this single-storey house. The bath-attached bedrooms have separate dressing areas too. A glass partition has been used to separate the bathroom into dry and wet areas. All the bathrooms are connected with solar water heater.

The house mostly runs on solar power generated by a 5 KV solar inverter. Besides, modern technology has been used here to ensure additional safety. The calling bell, camera, lights and TV could be controlled and operated using mobile phone.
