Outlandish but flamboyant, this Kanhangad mansion is really intriguing

Haris Sainudeen, an expatriate, wanted his brand-new house at his hometown in Kanhangad, Kasaragod, Kerala, to stand out for its unique look and designer features. The architect was given creative freedom to design a spectacular house that explored the nuances of modern architecture.

Now seeing the mesmerizing elevation of the house, the visitors often wonder whether it actually is a house or a luxury resort. The house is smartly ‘disguised’ inside a designer frame made with steel, glass and concrete.

Interestingly, this shell is around thirty metres long and seven metres high. You could see this designer screen not just in the front but on all sides. The CNC jalis in steel and glass grant a regal yet modern look to the elevation.

The glass ceiling is done only in the front side of the house. Meanwhile, the other areas are designed in the ‘open to sky’ style. An excellent garden and a walkway are arranged inside this designer structure.

Splendid greenery that calms your soul is the highlight of the house. The spaces are arranged in a way which allows you to grab excellent views of the green spots.

The house is divided into public, private and semi-public zones. Sprawled in 9570 sqft, this massive structure has a spacious sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area and six bedrooms.

The spaces in the interiors are connected through corridors. Meanwhile, the elegantly furnished areas exude positive vibes.

Interestingly, the ambience inside the house had changed quite a few times. When the family moved in for the first time, the garden wasn’t fully grown. However, now the vines have grown to create a canopy of pleasant greenery.

The house looks mesmerizing in the night when the warm toned lights are switched on inside the frame. The interiors then exude an enchanting beam of golden hue that instantly captures your attention. Meanwhile, the family are proud that their unique and special house has become a major landmark in the locality.
