Somy’s brand new house in Kattappana, Kerala stands in a sprawling 80 cents land that lies a few feet below the road level. The structure has been built by leaving ample space in the front. Meanwhile, the stylish roof designed in multiple layers is the highlight of the elevation. Double-height concrete pillars and windows add panache to the exteriors.
The family wanted a surprise element in the sit-out to welcome the guests. So, a spectacular skylight that instantly draws attention has been added here. The tree that was planted beneath the skylight has now grown to provide a natural ‘roof’.
Both the interiors and the exteriors of the house boast of chic contemporary designs. The custom-made furniture pieces done in solid wood grant classy elegance to the formal living area.
Designed in 3000 sqft, the fabulous abode has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, two courtyards, a kitchen with an adjacent work area, and three bedrooms on the ground floor. Meanwhile, the upper floor has two more bedrooms.
Vitrified tiles are paved on the floor inside the house. Lapotra granite has been used for flooring in the sit-out.
The designer staircase never fails to attract attention. The steps and the hand railings are highlighted with classy timber panelling. A TV unit too has been arranged here.
One of the courtyards is visible from the family living area and dining area. The floor here is paved with white pebbles. Meanwhile, the indoor plants add a hint of pleasant greenery.
The two courtyards that bring in the cool breeze from the north–east side ensure excellent air circulation inside the house. Moreover, these courtyards play pivotal roles in reducing the heat and keeping the spaces cooler.
The sliding glass door in the family living area opens to the courtyard. The interiors are illuminated with the golden sunshine that comes in through this area.
The kitchen cabinets are done in lacquered glass finish. Meanwhile, the countertop has been paved with nano white.
The bedrooms exude the splendid charm of minimalism. The bath-attached bedrooms have wardrobes for storage and separate dressing spaces too.
The family says that the well-illuminated and pleasant spaces fill the house with positive vibes. Moreover, they are proud that their dream dwelling has become a ‘superstar’ in the locality for its amazing features.
