Jerry’s ‘brand-new’ house at Mavelikkara has been built by retaining the family’s old ancestral home which is more than four decades old. The house stands out for its extravagant elevation that celebrates the elegance of colonial architecture. Meanwhile, the interiors are minimal and have been designed on a pocket-friendly budget. Jerry’s father, who has been working in the construction field for years, took up the responsibility of overseeing the construction.

The gable roofing, designed at a sixty-degree angle, is the highlight of the elevation. It grants a majestic look to the structure. The landscape has been aesthetically designed to complement the amazing house. The front yard is paved with natural stones and grass in alternate layers. Meanwhile, the beautiful water fountain is the perfect centrepiece. Interestingly, the statues of the crocodiles and the fisherman that adorn the fountain are made by the owner himself.

Designed in 2300 sqft, this fabulous abode has a sit-out, living and dining areas, courtyard, kitchen with an adjacent work area and three bath attached bedrooms on the ground floor. Meanwhile, there is one more bedroom and an open terrace on the upper floor.

The interiors are designed in a semi-open style to make the spaces look and feel vast. Besides, this allows amazing connectivity between the spaces. The furnishing has been done to match the colonial theme of the house. From the walls that don serene white hue and the royal-themed dining table to the elegant chandeliers and the well-designed bedrooms, the house does justice to the classy colonial architecture.

The courtyard which is decorated with indoor plants is the highlight of the interiors. Meanwhile, the vertical air vents bring lots of natural sunshine and cool air into the house. The cosy courtyard has become the family’s favourite spot to spent the evenings. You could enjoy the charming beauty of the courtyard from the living area through the glass door here.

A wash basin with concealed storage has been arranged beneath the staircase, making the interiors space efficient. Meanwhile, the hand railings done in steel and CNC cutting dons a regal golden finish.

The compact kitchen has everything arranged within the hand’s reach. An adjacent store room and work area complete the modern kitchen. NCP has been used to build the cabinets here in order to reduce expenses.

Interestingly, the cots in all the bedrooms, except in the owner’s parents’ bedroom, have been arranged as in–built. Concealed storage spaces too are part of these cots. So, cupboards that take up too much space are avoided in the bedrooms. Meanwhile, the head side walls are decorated using attractive texture works in cement finish.

Seeing the attractive designs of the house, people often ask the family whether they are settled in Europe. However, Jerry says that he is settled here and runs a dental lab business. He is extremely happy that he could fulfil his dream of owning a spectacular abode, that impresses everyone with its unique designs.
