Situated at Kechery, Thrissur, Kerala this property, owned by non-resident Indian Shanoj Balachandran and his family, harmoniously combines modern and tropical elements. The house enjoys road frontage on two sides and is set upon a symmetric 25-cent plot.

The construction project placed a strong emphasis on preserving the existing trees within the campus. The main gate, designed with a blend of wood and metal elements, is automated for convenience. Additionally, the property features a wicket gate and a traditional ‘padipura.’

Landscaping has been meticulously executed, enhancing the overall beauty and appeal of the house. The exterior is adorned with natural stone paving and lush green grass, creating a picturesque setting. The flat roof is reinforced with a GI truss and covered with a layer of tiles, imparting a unique and striking aesthetic to the facade.

The lower level of the house encompasses essential features such as a car porch, a welcoming sit-out, a formal living area, a dining space, a tranquil courtyard, two bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, and a convenient work area. On the first floor, you'll find two more bedrooms, a family living room, and a delightful balcony. The total floor area measures 4750 sq ft. Notably, the long courtyard provides an unobstructed and captivating view of the beautifully landscaped garden.

The courtyards play a pivotal role in shaping the interior aesthetics, with the rear courtyard being the most stunning. To ensure safety, it is enclosed with ceiling glass and a grill. One of its walls is adorned with an exposed-brick finish, while the other boasts a jalli-style design. Additionally, another inner courtyard is adorned with a small 'waterbody' and lush green plants. This inner courtyard offers a serene view from both the living and dining areas, enhancing the overall ambiance of the house.

The furniture throughout the house is tailor-made to align with the interior theme. Common areas feature exquisite marble-finish tiles, adding an elegant touch. The interior lighting has been thoughtfully selected and designed, incorporating elements such as gypsum ceilings, wooden panelling, profile lights, and a chandelier, all of which contribute to the overall aesthetic charm of the interiors.

The staircase is strategically located adjacent to the courtyard, resting on a sturdy metal frame and adorned with wooden planks for a stylish appearance. The handrail follows a captivating wood-and-glass theme, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal of the staircase.

The kitchen adopts an L-shaped layout, with a convenient breakfast table that complements its design. The kitchen counters are elegantly finished with quartz, enhancing both the functionality and visual appeal of the space.

Each of the bedrooms boasts a unique design theme, with windows thoughtfully placed along the sides of the headboard panel. Ample wardrobes and dressing spaces are integrated to enhance convenience and organization. The house successfully encapsulates all the elements the owners desired, seamlessly blending convenience and aesthetics to create a harmonious living space.
