When ancestral home in Kannur transformed into elegant office space

Most people consider their workplace as a boring and uninspiring space that drains off their energy. However, when an architect, who designs dream abodes for others, designs his own office space, it is likely to exude creative elegance and aesthetic prowess.

This ‘homely’ office of Samashtti Designs is at Payyannur in Kannur, Kerala. A traditional household that was around six and half decades old has been turned into a fabulous office without losing the charm of the iconic structure.
The old house had a veranda, formal living area, kitchen and four bedrooms. But, all these rooms were small and lacked enough space. The interiors were renovated by rearranging the spaces. Two bedrooms were joined to design the main office room.

The old cement flooring that was in a dilapidated state was revived by paving flooring tiles and tiles.
The plot had many trees and plants that granted shades and fruits. The house has been renovated by retaining these trees. Meanwhile, the frontage of the house has been redesigned to add a touch of modern refinement. The backside of the old house now became the entrance area of the office while the storage area has been renovated into a beautiful courtyard and sit out.

Architect Anoop Sukumaran says that he wanted to design a unique creative space rather than a conventional office room. He is thrilled that his experiment has turned out to be a grand success. This office dons the enchanting warmth of a traditional household while maintaining the professional vibes of an office space.
