Hareesh and Sandhya's house located in Nadathara, Thrissur, boasts an impressive style and has a reason for it. The house owners commissioned the architect to design the house after they were awed by the latter's house. The architect fulfilled their dream of a house without excessive embellishments, with ample space for gatherings, and filled with air and light.

The soul of the house is its single, GI truss roof with increased height. This height was utilized to create facilities on two floors. The roof is aesthetically pleasing with old tiles laid on top and terracotta ceiling tiles underneath.

The ground floor consists of a sit-out, living room, dining area, courtyard, kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. The upper floor includes a bedroom, bathroom, reading space, and a balcony. The total area is 2200 square feet.

The experiment with flooring proved successful. Public areas are finished in an oxide finish with an unusual green colour. Tiles are used only in the kitchen, and natural stone in the courtyard.

The dining table and chairs are made of teak wood. A long bench is placed alongside, providing seating for additional guests. Windows are provided on the sidewall in two tiers, allowing ample air and light to enter.

The simple staircase expands upwards like a bridge, constructed with a steel frame and wooden cladding. A small door connects the upstairs master bedroom to the lower floors. The master bedroom features a built-in storage bed, a bench, and a built-in study space.

"Constructing and securing the A-shaped roof was somewhat challenging. We were a bit tense during that phase of construction. We are happy to have gotten the open and airy house we desired," say the homeowners.
