The house is built at Chavara, Kottankulangara in Kollam district, on a 10-cent plot. The 1574 sq ft structure, including interiors, was completed for Rs 43 lakh. The contemporary house owned by Shriraj, an army officer and his family is regarded as a cut above the rest as it is constructed using M-bricks (Mud bricks). A key feature of M-bricks is their superior heat resistance compared to cement blocks. Therefore, the house remains comparatively cooler inside.
The house features a flat box-shaped elevation with white exterior walls. External stairs provide access to the roof, allowing scope for future expansion by adding rooms upstairs.
Entering through the teakwood main door, one is greeted by a Buddha painting, enhancing the living room's beauty. The living room includes a customized L-shaped lounge sofa, a coffee table, and a TV unit. The gypsum ceiling and profile lights add to the interior's appeal.
A semi-partition separates the living room from the dining area, leading to an open hall that incorporates the kitchen, dining space, and wash area. A customized dining table is provided in the dining space, adjacent to the wash area.
The compact kitchen is open-style with a breakfast counter. The cabinets are made of marine ply with a mica finish. A workspace is also included there. The house has three bedrooms, each with an attached bathroom, wardrobes, and essential amenities. The bedrooms are designed simply with basic facilities.
