Kerala’s first hydrotherapy centre would open at the National Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Kallettukara in Irinjalakkuda, Thrissur. Health minister KK Shylaja said that the construction of the centre would be completed by March next year. Construction work worth Rs 2.18 crore has been progressing at Thrissur.
Hydrotherapy, also called water cure, uses the varied temperatures and pressures of water to relieve pain and to provide therapeutic benefits for those who suffer from nervous disorders, cerebral palsy, spinal injury and also people with partial paralysis. The centre would focus on speeder recovery method which helps children develop easier and stress free movements.
There are very few centres which use this type of unique therapy, in India. The centre in Kerala aims to aid thousands of people who struggle with issues related to the nervous system. The hydrotherapy techniques here would be designed as per the instructions of the American Disability Act.
