Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George said that the e-Sanjeevani (the national telemedicine service) facility has been strengthened and enlarged to accommodate the patients who are isolated at home, amid the worsening third wave of the Covid 19 pandemic in the state.

More doctors have been appointed to make the e-Sanjeevani services flawless. 15 – 20 doctors have been appointed in the daytime, in the Covid OP that functions round the clock. Meanwhile, there would be at least 4 doctors in the night. The waiting time of the patients would now be less than a minute. The minister added that the service of more doctors would be sought if the number of patients go up.

It is important to self-monitor while isolating at home and could be dangerous to ignore certain symptoms. Chest pain, difficulty to talk, swollen feet, unconsciousness, lapse of memory, extreme fatigue and difficulty waking up are some of the ‘red flags’ that the body gives. Many people are likely to have doubts about these symptoms. During such situations, the patient or another person, in case the patient can’t speak, can speak to the doctor at e- Sanjeevani.

Around 3 lakh people have so far sought the service of e – Sanjeevani. More than 18,000 patients utilised the Covid OP facility, last month alone.

Meanwhile, patients can contact the general OP, that functions from 8 am to 8 pm, to clarify doubts or seek treatment for any illness Besides the general OP, the service of specialist doctors too has been ensured. Moreover, doctor to doctor service is also possible in e-Sanjeevani.

Here is how you could consult a doctor via e-Sanjeevani:

You could either visit the website https://esanjeevaniopd.in or download the e – Sanjeevani app on your mobile phone. The phone number that is currently in use could be used for registering. Login using the OTP number that would be send to the registered phone number. You will now get a token number which could be used to enter the patient queue. The patient could directly talk to the doctor via video conferencing. After the online consultation, the medicine prescription could be downloaded.

Free medicines and further tests would be provided if the prescription that is downloaded from e – Sanjeevani is shown at the nearby government hospital.
