The Kerala health department has issued health guidelines for those who visit Thrissur Pooram. Though the state is receiving regular summer rainfall, spending long time in the sun can be detrimental for health, this season. Therefore, pooram aficionados should ensure that they follow some basic tips before they get into the festival mood. Here are a few of the guidelines:
1) Visitors should drink lots of water and eat nutritious food for at least two days before visiting the pooram.
2) Always carry boiled drinking water.
3) Wear a hat or an umbrella.
4) Make sure to eat fruits like watermelon that has lots of water content.
5) Try to seek shade at all times.
6) Staying under the sun for longer hours may cause dehydration and losing consciousness. Those who have consumed alcohol may feel dehydration quickly. Therefore, limit alcohol as much as possible.
7) Make sure that the water you drink or buy is clean and safe, especially while drinking juices or other soft drinks from wayside shops.
