An awareness campaign that focuses on women’s health has been kick-started in the district. The campaign envisages a stronger society through healthy women. Medical checkups and awareness classes would be held until March 8, International Women’s Day. As part of this project, a women’s clinic would be conducted from 9 am to 1 pm on Tuesdays at the public health centres.

Screening tests for anaemia, high blood pressure, oral cancer and ovarian cancer would be done here. Besides, folic acid, iron, and calcium tablets would be distributed to pregnant women. Neighbourhood screening camps would be conducted on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at spots that are easily accessible for everyone while ensuring enough privacy. Meanwhile, the service of a specialist doctor would be ensured at all family and public health centres once a week. Those who require expert treatment or medical intervention would be referred to bigger hospitals.
