V K K Ramesh, the only Kerala Sahitya Akademi employee to ever receive an award from the academy itself, has retired after a 25-year career. He won the Akademi award in 2018 for his debut book, "Who is Afraid of VKN," which was recognized for its comedic excellence.

Ramesh served as an LD clerk at the Akademi. A relative of the acclaimed writer Vadakke Koottala Narayanankutty Nair (VKN), Ramesh was born in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu in 1969 but raised and educated in Thiruvilwamala.

He has written numerous radio plays and skits, demonstrating his versatility across literary genres. He is a Grade B drama artist with Akashavani (All India Radio) and is also an active contributor to periodicals.

His published short story collections include 'Mozart,' 'Spiritual War,' 'Akasa Barber,' 'Adiththara Thondum Melkkooraye Aakasham Rakshikkatte,' 'Pishachinte Vaari,' 'Mission Soul 18,' 'Koovam,' and 'Meen Kadavul,' among others. Another collection, 'Skandan,' is forthcoming.
The farewell function was presided over by the Secretary, C P Aboobacker.
