Kottayam: Nearly 130 years after its publication, the original version of 'Indulekha', the book, which is considered to be the first Malayalam novel, is all set to be published again on Kerala Piravi day (November 1).

Author O Chandu Menon had published 'Indulekaha', on December 9, 1889. The first edition of this pioneering work, which was believed to have been lost for over a century, is now being reprinted by the Manorama Books.

It would have the same script used during the 19th century.

Renowned Malayalam writer M T Vasudevan Nair would unveil the 'Indulekha Collector's Edition' on Friday.

The first edition of the novel was recovered from archives of the India Office Records at the British Library in London.

The novel has since undergone several changes over the years. Chandu Menon himself had made changes to the book in 1890.

Seven paragraphs in the last portion of the novel were removed in 1955. Also, the famous eighteenth chapter was removed in the 1963 edition. The collector's edition to be brought out on Friday would have all these parts intact.
