It is not the first time that Anujath Sindhu Vinaylal, the youngest son of noted artist Vinaylal, is being honoured with awards and laurels. Anujath was just 4 years old when he stepped into the world of colours. The paintings that this 14 year old has done until now is truly awe inspiring. It was his mother Sindhu who had been the happiest about Anujatha’s achievements. She was incredibly proud that her son could create magic on canvas in myriad hues. However, now, Sindhu is no more to see her beloved son win some of the most prestigious awards in the world of art.
Anujath’s painting titled ‘Ente Ammayum Ayalpakkathe Ammamarum’ had won the award in the international painting competition conducted by Sankar’s Academy of Art and Book Publishing. Sindhu had been there when the award was announced and she was the happiest person then. But, when Anujath received the medal and the award at the high profile event, Sindhu wasn’t there to watch it.
Sindhu died in November last year at the Kozhikode Medical College. She had undergone a complex surgery for heart related ailments. It was Anujath who drew Nehru’s painting that appeared on the editorial page of Malayala Manorama on 14th November. Vinaylal had hoped to show this painting as a delightful surprise to his wife who would come back after the surgery. However, fate had something else in store for them.
Anujath didn’t dream of winning the award when he drew the acclaimed ‘Ente Ammayum Ayalpakkathe Ammamarum’ at the age of 9. His parents never asked him to draw to win prizes. Anujath loves to relax and enjoy every stroke that he paints on canvas. It was nothing but his genuine love for his mother which inspired him to paint that picture. Though not with him, Anujath likes to dedicate this honor to his beloved mother whose love has always been a motivation.
Anujath hails from Kunduvara in Thrissur district. He studies at the Devamatha CMI Public School. Anujath had also won the inaugural Clint Memorial International Award, in 2014. He wishes to make a career in art with the blessings of his mother and the support of his father.
