Irinjalakuda: A film director would at once reject the story if this real-life incident escapes his or her attention. Because in this material world, where people refuse to support even their close relations, a paralysed youth finding unconditional love in a kind-hearted young girl would sound next to impossible.

Pranav, a Thazhekad native, met with a bike accident six years ago when he was a BCom student. His body below the hip got paralysed and remained confined to a wheelchair since then. He had to depended on others for basic needs and a close friend of his, named Vinu, gave him bath for years.

However, Pranav did not lock himself from the outside world. He became a regular visitor of temple festivals. Videos of Pranav enjoying festival events sitting in his wheel chair, went viral on Facebook. It was one of those videos that caught the attention of Shahna, a Thiruvananthapuram native.

She was so moved to see the videos of Pranav's mother Sunitha feeding her wheelchair-bound son. Three months ago, Shahna found Pranav's phone number from Facebook and dialled him. After talking over the phone for a couple of days, Shahna expressed her love for him and conveyed her desire to marry the youth. Though Pranav liked her, he tried to dissuade her from her intention to wed him.

However, the more he tried, the deeper Shahna got attached to him. He even made one of his friends tell her over the phone that Pranav had another girlfriend. But Shahna was adamant and refused to turn away.

Shahna's family was startled to know the affair. But she left home saying that she was going to meet her man.

Pranav's family too were embarrassed by Shahna's actions. But then they decided to let Shahna meet Pranav and see his condition for herself so that they can send her back when she understands the ground reality.

Shahna reached Pranav's home and met him. Though Pranav and his family tried to make Shahna reverse her decision, she remained obstinate to go ahead with marriage plan.

All the same, Shahna became Pranav’s bride in a ceremony that was held at a temple in Kodungallur on Tuesday.
