Mother's Day is celebrated globally to honour mothers. It's observed on the second Sunday of May each year, showing reverence for motherhood and maternal bonds. The origins of Mother's Day have various accounts.

'Mothering Sunday,' while not the same as the widely celebrated Mother's Day, was observed in 19th-century Britain. On the fourth Sunday of Lent, clergy would visit their mother churches. Modern Mother's Day, however, first emerged in 1907 in the USA, following a campaign by Anna Jarvis, who established it fulfilling her mother's wish.

Mothers are treated with special care, receiving cards, gifts, and treats. Children living far away send gifts as tokens of their love. Like other holidays, Mother's Day boosts sales of cards and gifts.

In 2025, Mother's Day falls on May 11th. However, the date varies across countries. In most Arab countries, it's celebrated on March 21st; in Bhutan on May 8th; in Indonesia on December 22nd; and in the Maldives on May 13th. 'Mother's Day 2025' had over 50,000 Google searches in the past 24 hours.
