KTDC’s ‘ladies only’ lodge to open soon

Thiruvananthapuram: A lodge run by women exclusively for women will soon be opened in the capital. It is the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) which opens the ladies-only lodge called the ‘Hostess’.

The lodge will function on the second floor of the KTDFC terminal building opposite the central railway station at Thampanoor. Tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran inaugurated the construction works of the hotel. The officials said that the construction will be completed in six months.

The lodge, which focuses on providing a safe and secure environment for women, will have 22 rooms and 2 dormitories which can accommodate up to 28 people. The rent is fixed at Rs 1,500 per day. The dormitory would cost Rs 500 for five hours. Free breakfast would be available for the guests.

The lodge would also have extensive and modern facilities like locker, check-in and check-out options, laundry, fitness centre, microwave oven and the like. The employees will only be women.

KTDC chairman M Vijayakumar said that it is for the first time in the country that a lodge, exclusively for women, is being opened by the government.
