Mala: Karingolchira Community Centre has opened an apparel production unit to facilitate the rehabilitation of the flood hit people in the area. 7 modern stitching machines have been arranged here with the cooperation of private individuals. Around 10 women are working in the unit which was inaugurated by minister C Raveendranath.

School uniforms and women's garments would be stitched at the unit. In the initial stage, the community centre would begin an apparel production unit; provide training in tailoring and stitching, paper bag making and also in screen printing, according to its self employment project.

The officials of the community centre Sali Sajeer, Sankarankutty Menon and C Riyas said that it aims to begin large scale production of paper bags in the Kuzhoor panchayat. They informed that the second phase of the training program will begin at Mala soon.
