Thiruvananthapuram: A new mobile application named 'Snehajwala' has been developed to ensure women's safety, said Kerala Police Chief Loknath Behera. He requested every woman in the state to install the app on their phones.
Behera inaugurated the app by pressing the panic button to make a call on the emergency number 112. When used, the app sends the location details and message of the person in need to a designated number elsewhere.
Snehajwala was developed by Swasthi Foundation in association with Kerala Police Senior Officers Association, Kerala Police Officers Association, LNCPE, Jyotis Group of Educations, Kerala University Union and United Shito Ryu Karate Association of India.
Former DGP and Swasthi Foundation chairman Jacob Punnoose presided over the event.
Nava Kerala Mission coordinator Cherian Philip, former city police commissioner R Surendran, former IG and Swasthi Foundation trustee S Gopinath, Manju Pillai, Subi Suresh, Rajalakshmi, Deepti Vidhu, Rajamurthi, KB Sasikumar, police headquarters officers D Anand, BS Babu, Jyotish Chandran, Biju Cherian, LNCPE principal Dr G Kishore, women’s college principal Dr Vijayalakshmi, Police Officers Association secretary Anil Kumar, University Union chairperson Shamili Sasikumar, Hanshi, VV Vinod Kumar, Dimple Mohan, Gokul Govind, Dr GL Muralidharan, R Harikrishnan, NV Ajith, Gopika, MA Sreeja and AB George participated.
The app was developed by Swasthi Foundation IT team that includes Sanjay Kumar, Mohan Pillai, Adarsh Pratap, N Arif Sameer and Udaya Kumar.
