Kattapana: Sister Ann Mariya (67), who has earned a name for herself in the field of social work and charity, doesn't mind getting behind the wheels of the ambulance too. This nun has become a truly unique personality by driving the ambulance which requires great speed and presence of mind. Sister Ann, who got her driver's licence 13 years ago, hasn't involved in any accident so far.

Ann Mariya currently serves at the Kattapana Assisi Snehashramam and had also worked as a nurse at places like Andhra Pradesh, Ooty, and Ujjain. She has been serving at Kattapana for the last 16 years.

She decided to take the driver's license with the encouragement from Fr Francis Dominic and provincial sister Aneeta. Sister Ann easily drives pick-up vans and marshal as well. It takes just two and a half hours for the nun to drive an ambulance from Kattapana to the Kottayam Medical College.
