The Street-smart Burgman from Suzuki

Suzuki Burgman has showed that scooters too can have enough power and luxury. It is not a new launch per se, since Suzuki Burgman is already available in several developed markets for quite some time. It is considered as a super scooter with engines having a displacement of up to 650 cc.

Bigger plans in store?

For India, Suzuki has played safe by introducing a smaller scooter - a 125 cc maxi-scooter. Not the original Burgman, but a smaller version that is inspired by the big one - Burgman Street. If it becomes a success, bigger versions could hit the roads soon. And if it becomes a bigger success, even the 650 cc version could come to India. Hence, the success of just one model could change the scooter market in India.

Stiff fight on cards

The 125 cc segment is where all the action is happening, so much so that within the span of a year, four models have been launched. It is in these tough conditions that Suzuki Burgman is entering the market, that too without any concern. This is the second maxi-scooter that is launched here after Kinetic Blaze that could not make any impact in the market.

Terrific looks

Burgman Street is based on Suzuki's best-selling scooter in India - Access 125. It is definitely a head turner and Suzuki is planning to cash in on its looks in a big way. Compared to traditional scooters, Burgman Street has a bigger body shell, large front apron and a tall windscreen. The LED headlamp and indicators are also proportionate with the larger body.

Much more than a scooter

The scooter is equipped with a dual-tone side panel, telescopic front forks in the front and a monoshock unit at the rear. The seat offers a good riding position and comfortable longer rides. The scooter is 1,880 mm long, 675 mm wide, 1,140 mm tall and has a fuel tank capacity of 5.6 litres.

Enough room

Burgman Street has enough space for riders as well as storage. The seat accommodates two persons comfortably. The under-seat storage capacity is 21.5 litres. Besides, it also has a two-litre glove compartment, and a storage rack that can accommodate a one-litre water bottle. The glove box also has a mobile-charging socket. The taillamp amplifies the beauty of the rear, while the chunky muffler cover gives the exhaust a sporty look.

Enough power, mileage

The power delivery is smooth like Access 125. The 110 kg vehicle can be easily handled, and ride comfort is also excellent.

High-tech
