Commercial LPG cylinder price hiked by ₹9.50; ₹2,784 in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: The price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders has been increased by ₹9.50 across India amid concerns over disruptions to cooking gas supplies linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

The revised prices for the 19-kg cylinders are ₹2,784 in Thiruvananthapuram, ₹2,763 in Ernakulam, ₹2,775 in Thrissur, ₹2,800 in Palakkad, ₹2,775 in Pathanamthitta and ₹2,821 in Kasaragod.

The hike comes days after the Centre set maximum LPG production targets for individual public and private sector refineries and upstream companies as part of efforts to strengthen domestic supplies.

The government is seeking to create a buffer in domestic LPG availability after the West Asia conflict highlighted India's dependence on imported cooking gas and the risks posed by supply disruptions.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, in an order issued on August 13, set maximum LPG production levels for 21 refineries and upstream companies.

Together, these facilities have been assigned a production capacity of 63,810 tonnes of LPG a day. This is more than twice India's domestic LPG output in the financial year ended March 31, 2026, and accounts for about 70% of the country's daily LPG consumption.
