The price of the Land Rover Defender 110 has significantly dropped in India by up to ₹34 lakh following the commencement of local assembly at Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) Pune plant.
The company has started assembling the Defender 110 using completely knocked-down (CKD) kits imported from Slovakia. The move to local assembly has resulted in substantial reductions in ex-showroom prices across different variants.
The biggest price cut of ₹34 lakh is applicable to the Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE variants powered by 3-litre diesel and 3-litre petrol engines. These versions, which were earlier priced at ₹1.52 crore, are now available at ₹1.18 crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The 2-litre turbo-petrol version of the X-Dynamic HSE has received a price reduction of ₹14 lakh. Previously priced at ₹1.13 crore, it is now available at ₹99 lakh, making it the most affordable Defender 110 variant.
The model is offered with three engine options: a 350hp 3-litre diesel, a 400hp 3-litre petrol and a 300hp 2-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Bookings for the locally assembled Defender 110 have opened both online and at dealerships. Deliveries are scheduled to begin on November 15, according to the company.
However, the Defender 110 Octa and 5-litre V8 versions, along with the Defender 90 and 130 body styles, will continue to be fully imported.
More features at no additional cost
Apart from the price reduction, Land Rover has also added several features as standard equipment to the locally assembled Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE variants. Features that were previously available as optional extras at an additional cost are now included in the package.
The 2-litre petrol variant gets features worth up to ₹6.5 lakh as standard. These include adaptive off-road cruise control, air suspension with adaptive dynamics, three-zone climate control and an air purifier.
Other additions include headlamp washers, a spare wheel lock, a body-coloured spare wheel cover, manually operated third-row seats and a front-centre console refrigerator. The variant also gets 14-way electrically adjustable front seats with heating, cooling and memory functions.
The 3-litre petrol and diesel variants receive additional features worth up to ₹17 lakh. These include 20-inch wheels, illuminated metal treadplates, an electronic active differential with torque vectoring, four-way manually adjustable winged headrests and manual slide-and-recline functionality for the second-row seats. Heated third-row seats are also part of the package.
Other premium additions include a suede headliner, three-zone climate control with rear cooling, a Meridian surround sound system and a head-up display.
JLR expands local assembly in India
Besides the Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE, several other popular Land Rover models, including the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport, are also assembled in India.
The Defender, which was previously imported as a completely built unit (CBU), was JLR India's best-selling model in the 2025-26 financial year. More than 9,000 units of the SUV have been sold in India so far.
