NRIs can now update vehicle RC with nominee's mobile number in Kerala

The Kerala Motor Vehicles Department has issued new guidelines allowing vehicle owners living abroad to update the mobile number linked to their vehicle's Registration Certificate (RC) if they do not have an Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Under the new provision, vehicle owners can update their vehicle records with the Aadhaar-linked mobile number of the person to whom they have given power of attorney.

If a power of attorney has not been issued, the mobile number of the person listed as the nominee in the vehicle's RC can be updated, provided the nominee resides in India.

The move is aimed at facilitating access to RC-related services for vehicle owners living abroad who cannot use an Aadhaar-linked mobile number of their own.
