Bollywood actress Sujata Kumar, who played Sridevi’s sister in the movie 'English Vinglish', died after battling cancer.

The news regarding Sujata Kumar’s death was confirmed by her sister and singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi. Taking to Twitter, Suchitra wrote, “Our beloved Sujata Kumar has passed away and moved on to a better place leaving us with an unimaginable void. She left us an hour ago at 11.26 pm on the 19th of august 2018..Life can never be the same again...” (sic.)

Sujatha was admitted at Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital. Reportedly, she had multiple organ failure.

In 2012, when she appeared in 'English Vinglish', she was quoted as saying that she was happy as its director Gauri Shinde had thought of casting her in the role although she was a cancer survivor then.

Sujatha had appeared in several commercials and a few Bollywood films like Karan Johar’s 'Gori Tere Pyar Mein' and Aanand L Rai’s 'Raanjhanaa', both released in 2013. She was also part of a few TV serials like Hotel Kingston, Bombay Talking.
