Patna: Hinting at cracks in the BJP-led NDA, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) chief and union minister of state for HRD Upendra Kushwaha on Friday revealed that some people in the NDA did not want to see Narendra Modi as the prime minister again in 2019.

Kushwaha refused to reveal the names of such people and said everything will be known at the appropriate time.

His statement comes a few days after his remarks at the birth centenary celebration of BP Mandal in Patna that the milk of Yadavs and rice of Kushwahas would make the perfect kheer. His statement was in Hindi and he was hinting that Yadavs are traditionally associated with rearing cattle and the Kushwahas are considered a farming community.

A day after this, RJD leader and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tejashwi Yadav had indirectly welcomed Kushwaha to the RJD fold.

Tejashwi had tweeted in Hindi, "Upendra ji, hardworking people need delicious and nutritious kheer. Nutritious value of panchmeva (dry fruits to garnish kheer) gives energy to the body and helps in creating a healthy and equal society. Kheer made with affection is rich in nutrition, taste and energy."

However, on Friday Kushwaha wanted to douse the rumours and said, "In NDA, there are some people who don't want Modiji to become the prime minister again. Such people intentionally spread rumours to trigger conflicts within the NDA."

He said his party wanted Modi to become the prime minister again after the 2019 polls. The RLSP is a BJP ally. This was not the first time Kushwaha dropped hints at joining hands with the RJD. He had accused the Nitish Kumar government of doing nothing to improve the law and order situation.
