Srinagar: A gunfight took place on Tuesday between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Tral town, police said.

Upon receiving information about the militants, the security forces started a search operation in Mir Mohalla on Monday evening.

"As the operation continued on Tuesday morning, the militants fired at the security forces triggering the gunfight," the police added

Authorities have suspended mobile Internet services in the town. Several encounters have taken place in different parts of Kashmir after the Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF jawans on February 14.

More details awaited.
