Pathanamthitta: Poonjar MLA P C George's party, Kerala Janapaksham, on Wednesday joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The official announcement was made by George at a press meet held here along with BJP state secretary P S Sreedharan Pillai.

George, while announcing the decision, said that the NDA's Thiruvananthapuram candidate will win the Lok Sabha elections slated to be held in the state on April 23 with the votes of his party workers alone.

Former Mizoram governor Kummanam Rajasekharan is the NDA candidate from the Lok Sabha seat in the state capital.

Earlier, George had came out in support of NDA's Pathanamthitta candidate K Surendran, who is a state secretary of the BJP.

George has said that his party has decided to join the NDA considering the Narendra Modi government's pro-farmer initiatives.

Though we wanted to continue in the UDF, it had failed us, George added.
