New Delhi: The government announced its decision to establish the 8th Pay Commission to revise the salaries of central government employees and the allowances for pensioners on Thursday.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the decision to constitute the 8th Pay Commission.

The 7th Pay Commission, which was formed in 2016, is set to complete its tenure in 2026. Vaishnaw also mentioned that the chairman and two members of the new Commission would be appointed soon, reported PTI.
