Bengaluru: A case has been registered against Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, former IISc Director Balaram, and 16 others under the SC/ST Atrocities Act. The case was filed at Sadashiva Nagar police station following instructions from the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court.

The complainant, Durgappa, a member of the tribal Bovi community, was previously a faculty member at the Centre for Sustainable Technology at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Durgappa alleged that in 2014, he was falsely implicated in a honey trap case, leading to his dismissal from service. He further claimed that he endured caste-based abuse and threats.

The other individuals named in the case include Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari K V S, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, Pradeep D Sawkar and Manoharan.

There has been no immediate response from IISc faculty or Kris Gopalakrishnan, who is also a member of the IISc Board of Trustees.
