Flight operations at Mumbai airport were disrupted on Saturday after a technical glitch hit the data network, forcing the facility’s operator to switch to manual mode, a source said. The glitch lasted only a few minutes but took about an hour to fix, the source added.

“Around 4 pm, the passenger processing system was moved to manual mode after a glitch was reported. It took an hour to resolve the issue, causing some disruption in operations,” the source said.

Air India, in a post on social media platform X, said a third-party data network outage had impacted check-in systems at Mumbai airport, delaying departures for several airlines, including Air India.

Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), a 74:26 joint venture between the Adani Group and the Airports Authority of India, has not commented on the incident.

The systems have since been restored, but some flights may continue to face delays as operations normalise, the source said. Mumbai airport, the second busiest in the country, handles more than 950 flight movements daily.
