A high-security alert was issued across Bihar on Thursday following intelligence inputs suggesting that three Pakistani terrorists linked to the banned Jaish-e-Mohammed have entered the state through Nepal.
The Bihar Police headquarters circulated names and photographs of the suspected militants, Hasnain from Rawalpindi, Adil from Umerkot, and Usman from Bahawalpur to all districts. Sources indicated that they may have crossed into Bihar via Araria, reported PTI.
Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar confirmed that a statewide alert was sounded. “All district police and specialised wings have been directed to maintain extraordinary vigil and intensify patrolling and search operations to thwart any attempt by anti-national elements. Security has already been heightened,” he said.
In response to the alert, security has been stepped up around key institutions, airports and tourist centres. Precautionary deployment has been made at Bodh Gaya’s Mahabodhi Temple Complex, Rajgir’s Vishwa Shanti Stupa, Patna’s Mahaveer Temple and Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji at Patna Sahib. Additional measures have also been implemented in Rajgir, Bodh Gaya, and Patna, which attract a heavy tourist footfall.
Bihar’s border with Nepal was under scrutiny, with intensified monitoring at checkpoints and vulnerable routes. Police across all districts have been instructed to strengthen area domination exercises and coordinate closely with intelligence agencies.
