New Delhi: Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Tuesday approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of her personality and publicity rights, alleging unauthorised use of her name, images and AI-generated pornographic material.
Hearing the plea, Justice Tejas Karia orally indicated that an ad-interim order cautioning the defendants may be passed.
Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, representing Rai, argued that fabricated intimate photographs of the actor were being circulated online and monetised without her consent.
“There can be no right in their favour to use her images, likeness or persona. Her name and likeness are being misused to satisfy someone’s sexual desires. This is very unfortunate,” he submitted.
Sethi pointed to specific websites selling wallpapers, merchandise such as T-shirts with her pictures, and YouTube channels using morphed or AI-generated visuals. He stressed that Rai had never authorised such use and that the content was “completely unreal.”
The actor was also represented by advocates Pravin Anand and Dhruv Anand.
The matter has been listed for further proceedings before the joint registrar on November 7 and for a substantive hearing before the court on January 15, 2026.
