New York: India critiqued Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on Wednesday for its actions in air strikes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
India insisted that Pakistan focus on its domestic issues, such as strengthening its economy and improving its human rights record, rather than harbouring terrorists and bombing its own citizens, without directly referring to the incident.
Kshitij Tyagi, Counsellor at India's Permanent Mission in Geneva, also condemned the Pakistan delegation at the UN for abusing the forum with baseless and provocative statements against India.
Tyagi also asked Pakistan to vacate the Indian territory "under their illegal operation" In reference to the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He suggested that Pakistan should instead divert their focus towards "rescuing an economy on life support, a polity muzzled by military dominance, and a human rights record stained by persecution". "Perhaps once they find time away from exporting terrorism, harbouring UN-proscribed terrorists, and bombing their own people," Tyagi added.
On Monday, 10 civilians and 14 militants were killed when bomb-making materials stored at a compound owned by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a banned militant group, exploded in the Tirah Valley.
Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party's provincial branch and residents blame the "jet-bombing" in the region for the explosion. But the local administration has denied the claims and insisted that explosives used in bomb making exploded.
