'We stand with India': Global leaders condemn Delhi blast

New Delhi: Leaders and diplomats across the globe have expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with India following the deadly car blast near the Red Fort Metro Station in New Delhi, which claimed at least eight lives and left several injured.
European Union Ambassador to India Hervé Delphin wrote on X, “Our deepest condolences to the victims of the Delhi blast. While investigations by authorities proceed, our first thoughts are with families who lost loved ones & with all those injured, to whom we wish a swift recovery. We stand by Indian people in this moment of shock & grief.”
The United States also condemned the attack, with the State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs posting, “Our hearts are with those affected by the terrible explosion in New Delhi. We continue to closely monitor the situation. Our sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Monday took to X, “Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the blast near Red Fort, Delhi this evening. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and good wishes for swift recovery of the injured. The Maldives stands in solidarity with the people and Government of India in this difficult time.”
The Embassy of Egypt in India posted, “On behalf of the People and Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, we extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected by the Red Fort blast. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved, and we wish all injured a swift and complete recovery.”
France’s Ambassador to India, Thierry Mathou, said, “On behalf of the French People and Government, I extend our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones in the Red Fort blast. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, and we wish a full and complete recovery to all those injured.”
Japan’s Ambassador to India, ONO Keiichi, wrote, “Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the Delhi blast. I offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron shared, “My thoughts are with all those affected by the explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi today. Lithuanian Ambassador Diana Mickeviciene wrote, “Horrible news about blasts at Red Fort, Delhi! Our deepest condolences and prayers to the dear ones of the victims, praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
The Embassy of Iran in India said, “The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India expresses its deep sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries of several Indian citizens in the car blast incident in Delhi, and extends its sincere condolences to the Government and the people of the Republic of India. The Embassy also conveys its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families of the victims and wishes patience and comfort for them, as well as a speedy recovery for those injured in this tragic incident.”
Messages from across the world reflect the international concern over the tragic incident that shook the national capital.
The explosion happened when a Haryana-registered car parked near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station went off, killing at least eight people and injuring several others. The blast set nearby vehicles on fire, damaged streetlights, and left the area in chaos. The injured have been admitted to LNJP Hospital, where their condition is being closely monitored.
Police, NIA, NSG, and forensic teams reached the spot within minutes, cordoning off the area.
High alerts have been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with tightened security at crowded public places and religious sites.
