New Delhi: Another person injured in the blast near the Red Fort succumbed to his injuries at the LNJP hospital, raising the death toll to 13, officials say. The deceased has been identified as Bilal.
According to police, they received the information about Bilal's death early on Thursday morning, with the post-mortem scheduled for later in the day.
With Bilal's death, the total number of fatalities in the high-intensity explosion on Monday evening has climbed to 13, while several others remain under treatment.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced an ex gratia of ₹10 lakh for the families of each of those killed in the blast. The chief minister said in a statement that a compensation of ₹5 lakh will be provided to those rendered permanently disabled, ₹2 lakh to those who sustained serious injuries and ₹20,000 to those who sustained minor injuries in the blast.
The Government on Wednesday termed the blast as a "terrorist incident" even as it emerged during investigations that Dr Umar Nabi, who was driving the explosives-laden car, planned an attack here to coincide with the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary on December 6.
