New Delhi: The new Aadhaar app will soon allow users to update their mobile number without visiting an enrolment centre.

This option was not available in the old mAadhaar app, where mobile numbers could be updated only after biometric verification at an Aadhaar centre. In the new app, users can complete the update through facial recognition. The service costs ₹75 and may take up to 30 days to process online.

The feature will benefit those whose Aadhaar is linked to a relative’s number or whose registered number has changed or become inactive. The app will soon also support updates for address, name, and email ID.

The update will be available through the mAadhaar app, which can be downloaded on both Android and iOS platforms.  Links shared by UIDAI direct users to the official app stores.
