Kozhikode: The Kerala State Women's Commission on Monday registered a case against TV serial director R Unnikrishnan after an actress accused him of misbehaviour.

Nisha Sarang, the lead actor in a popular Malayalam TV serial, made the allegations against Unnikrishnan in a recent TV interview. She said she was ousted from the serial without any explanation apparently after she refused to budge to his advancements. She said she had complained to the channel head against the director.

Nisha said she did not wish to continue to work under Unnikrishnan. After the allegations triggered a controversy, the TV channel, which airs the serial, issued a clarification saying that its management would look into the matter. They also said that Nisha would continue to play the character.

The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and the Association Of Television Media Artistes had also offered all support to the actor. The Women in Cinema Collective has sought action against the director.
