Chalakudy: Floods have brought some unwelcome visitors too at several places in the state.

Among them was a crocodile that gave a fright to the residents of Kanjirappilly near Pariyaram on the banks of the Chalakudy River. It was later captured by them.

The reptile came to the notice of the residents while it was resting on the river bank.

Police and forest officials were soon informed, but they did not wait for officials to arrive to trap the crocodile, fearing that it could flee from the place.

Crocodiles were sighted on the banks of Chalakudy River on several occasions in the past too, especially near Athirappilly.

However, they couldn't be trapped.

Officials hailed the residents for trapping the reptile before it could harm anyone, but the incident is also a warning signal to those living on the banks of the river.

Several insensitive posts, showing the locals booing and clicking selfies on the captured reptile, which was probably washed down in the torrential flood, started appearing soon after.
