Ayarkunnam: Road accidents are a regular affair and innumerable lives are lost and many crippled despite precautions and warnings. But a freak mishap reported from here suggests one is not safe from motor vehicles even if we stay at our homes.

A car parked safely on the premises of a house suffered extensive damage after another car passing along the road suddenly lost control, veered into the compound and rammed it.

The incident occurred at the house of Polakkal Benny at Kallittunada on the Ayarkunnam–Kidangoor road. Fr Vibin, a priest based in Arunachal Pradesh, was driving the car which caused the accident. He was returning to Muvattupuzha after dropping his friends at Kottayam railway station.

Benny’s car, after being hit by Fr Vibin’s vehicle, rolled backwards to the compound wall of the neighbouring house, belonging to one Vince Peralungal. The wall collapsed in the impact.

Fortunately, no one suffered any injury in the accident as none was around in the path of the car.
