Kalpetta: The CPI (Maoist) has rejected the rehabilitation package announced by the Kerala government in May.
The Nadukani area committee of Maoists expressed displeasure over what it termed as the 'double stance of the government' in its October bulletin.
The bulletin asked if these politicians were ready to stop their political activities if they were given similar incentives.
“Will (Kerala CM) Pinarayi, (CPM leader) Kodiyeri and their followers stop their political activities, once they are offered land, jobs and money for marriage in family? The CPM is colluding with the bourgeois government at the Centre to imprison and kill Maoists,” the bulletin alleged.
Apart from dismissing the rehabilitation package, the bulletin also flayed a programme organised by the police to congratulate tribal students who scored high in the public examinations.
It said such programmes were an eyewash to cover up the violence police continued to inflict on the tribals including the Muthanga unrest, imprisoning tribal boys under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act.
Govt package
The government had announced a package in three layers to avoid the radical Left wing activists misusing the package and going back to extremist activities.
The package was as follows: Rs 5 lakh for the first category Maoists, and that too in phases. Those who wish to pursue studies, would be given Rs 15,000, for marriage Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 for job training for up to three months.
For those belonging to the category 2A and 2B, Rs 3 lakh would be given in phases.
Those who are ready to surrender their arms also would be rewarded. For example, those who surrender their AK 47 would get Rs 25,000.
