Thiruvananthapuram: “What can I say except that this is God's sentence," is how Sanalkumar's wife Viji responded when she was told about the death of DySP Harikumar, who had pushed her husband onto a speeding car at Neyyattinkara on November 5 night. She was in the midst of a prayer and fast protest at Kodangavila, where Sanalkumar was killed, demanding the arrest of the culprit immediately.
Vaikunata Swami Dharma Pracharanasabha (VSDP) leader Vishnupuram Chandrasekharan, who had earlier lodged a complaint against Harikumar, said the action council formed after Sanalkumar's death would continue its fight till full justice is done. “We want all the facts to come out. The Crime Branch should also probe Harikumar's past enmity with Sanalkumar," the VSDP leader said. The police, however, said they had not yet come across any evidence to show that Harikumar had held any grudge against Sanalkumar.
The VSDP leader said those had been protecting Harikumar, especially DGP Loknath Behera, should also be brought to book.
Harikumar, who had been on the run for the past nine days after pushing Sanalkumar, an electrician, to death, was found hanging in his two-storeyed house at Veyloor near Kallambalam, some 45km from Thiruvananthapuram, on Tuesday.
The body was spotted by Harikumar's mother-in-law. Police sources said the death could have happened early in the morning as search team had scoured the area last night.
The death of Harikumar has come on the day the Crime Branch was about to submit a report in the court indicting him for purposeful manslaughter. Top police sources told Onmanorama that Harikumar could have been shocked by the way the case had turned against him.
Harikumar is said to have been around the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border all this while.
