Kochi: A woman from Thodupuzha has salvaged her reputation after a relentless battle of two and a half years to prove that she was not the one in an objectionable video that led to her separation from her husband.
Shobha Saju’s world came crashing down when someone posted a video of a naked woman to a WhatsApp group that included her, her husband and their colleagues. Her husband accused her of sending out the video and sent her out of the house. She was not even allowed to meet her three children since then.
“I have a responsibility to my children. I had to prove myself right for them. Only I could do it. No one else would do it,” Shobha said in Kochi after forensic reports confirmed that she was not the woman in the video.
She had appeared on Manorama News to highlight her plight two years ago. She rejected an offer to cover her face and name and spoke to the camera, saying she wanted the world to believe her. “If I cover my face, the people would think I am guilty,” she had said then.
The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has found that the woman in the video was not Shobha. Two earlier analyses in the police forensic labs had remained inconclusive.
“I complained directly to the director general of police. He changed the investigating officer and forwarded the video to C-DAC,” she said.
Shobha is not ready to call it quits yet. She said that she would continue to pursue the case until bringing to justice the person who spread the video as if it were hers.
