Footballer IM Vijayan's brother dies after scooter-car collision

Thrissur: The elder brother of famed ex-Indian footballer I M Vijayan died following a scooter-car collision in Thrissur town late on Friday night.

The deceased Biju was 52 years old.

The accident occurred about 10.30 pm near the Aquatic Complex at Patturaikkal. Biju's scooter collided with a car coming from the opposite direction.

Biju, a resident of Inivalappil house at Chembookaavu, passed away shortly after midnight at the Aswini Hospital where he was rushed in following the accident.

He had grievous injuries on chest and head.

A police man named Ligesh who was along with Biju at the time of accident received minor injuries.

Ligesh, a resident of Vaikom, is based at the AR Camp.

Professional footballer IM Vijayan, 49, was a lethal striker of the Indian national team in the late nineties and early 2000s. He had also played for the prominent clubs, including Mohun Bagan and Kerala Police in his heydays.
