Abu Dhabi: A Keralite has won the top prize in the first Big Ticket raffle draw of the New Year worth 15 million UAE Dirhams. Sarath Purushothaman earned the prize for the ticket number 083733. The prize amount equals around Rs 28 crore.

Incidentally, of the top ten winners, eight are Indians, including six Keralites.

The draw was held at Abu Dhabi International Airport on Thursday morning. When Sarath was informed of the good news, he initially refused to believe it. “Okay; but I will call back after checking the Big Ticket website,” he said.

Sarath, however, did not react when contacted again. But the winner later said that he had purchased the ticket along with some friends. “I have been regularly buying the ticket over the last couple of years,” he added.

Sarath also said that he would be soon travelling to Kerala to meet his mother. He did not elaborate.

The other Big Ticket winners are Jinachandran Vazhoor Narayanan (One lakh Dirhams), Shahid Fareed (BMW 4 series car), Muhammed Sajith Puthanpura Mallatty Randupurayil (90,000 Dirhams), Athul Muraleedharan (70,000 Dirhams), Nesheer Khan (50,000 Dirhams), Kamlesh Shashi Prakash (30,000 Dirhams), Gattu Ramakrishna (20,000 Dirhams), Mohammed Saeed Imtiaz (20,000 Dirhams), Manoj Kumar Thankappan Nair (10,000 Dirhams) and Radha Krishnan Unni (10,000 Dirhams).
