Panur (Kannur): The funeral of prominent Gandhian and orator KPA Rahim, 69, who collapsed and died while delivering a speech in honour of Mahatma Gandhi, will be held at the Panur Juma Masjid at 9.30am today.

Rahim passed away while delivering speech at the Mahi Puthalam temple compound on Sunday.

Rahim had been the chairman of Gandhi Yuvamandalam, Gandhi Centenary Memorial Society, Hind Swaraj Centenary Society, Thirunavaya Sarvodayamela Committee, central advisor of Sivagiri Mutt Gurudharma Pracharana Sabha, and secretary of the Nityachaithanya Vedi. He was also the former state chairman of the Sarvodaya Mandal.

A former teacher at the KKV Memorial Higher Secondary School, Panur, Rahim was a postgraduate in Gandhian philosophy.

Rahim is survived by wife Nafeesa, children Laila, Jalil (Oman) and Kabeer (MES Public School Panur). His son-in-law is A Nasar (Mattannur Co-operative Rural Bank) and daughters -in-law are Shabnaz (Vadakkumpad) and Jasmina (Thalassery).
