Kozhikode: Investors have filed police complaints alleging intimidation and threats by Aalima Nowhera Shaik, chairperson of the controversial Heera Islamic Business Group, better known as Heera Gold.
The police said they had received 17 complaints. Sources said at least 500 people had been affected and many were reluctant to file complaints following threats by Nowhera Shaik that she would not return the money.

Some of the complainants alleged that the police were reluctant to receive their complaints.

The police had asked the sub-registrar to stop all deals related to the property on Francis Road, Kozhikode, where the registered office of the company was located.

The group had bought the five-cent plot in 2012. The office there handled the company's activities in the districts from Palakkad to Kasaragod.

Reports emerging from various places indicated that Nowhera Shaik led a celebratory life and the business hinged on some 'spirituality.' Nowhera Shaik was actively involved in the conduct of star gatherings and cricket matches in Hyderabad and Mumbai and had reportedly spent crores on it. She was also involved in political and philanthropic activities.
