Balabhaskar’s driver an accused in two cases, say police

Thiruvananthapuram: The police have found that Arjun, the driver of violinist Balabhaskar, had been involved in two criminal cases. Meanwhile, the investigation into the death of Balabhaskar in a road accident has entered the final phase.

According to police officers, there were no discrepancies in the financial deals of Balabhaskar.

The probe was ordered after Balabhaskar’s father filed a complaint over his son’s death and money ransactions. The violinist’s family had expressed doubts over his deals with a doctor friend in Palakkad, following which the Attingal police questioned the doctor and his wife.

The couple told the police that they had taken a loan of Rs 8 lakh from Balabhaskar which was duly returned. Details of the bank transactions regarding the deal were also submitted to the police by the doctor and wife. Checking the documents, the police assume that the financial deals were above board.

However, suspicions have been raised regarding Balabhaskar’s driver Arjun, who is also a relative of the Palakkad-based doctor. Arjun is an accused in cases registered at Ottapalam and Cheruthuruthy. He has been charged with accompanying two ATM robbery gangs as their driver.

Meanwhile, the suspense over who was at the wheel at the time of the accident that killed Balabhaskar continues. Arjun claims that it was Balabhaskar who was driving and the violinist’s wife Lakshmi says that it was Arjun behind the steering. The police said that the matter would be settled after the Forensic surgeons submit their report in this regard.
